As my client's needs grew, and their business grew, which put more and more demand on me, it was then I was able to launch full time. I always had permission to use my company's software, and I never charged full price to the end client because they knew I could only dedicate part time hours to their needs, and in between my full time hours of work - which they were perfectly happy with. I did part time work for four years before launching my business full time. I'm assuming here, but if this is true, the company you do dedicate full time to has actually invested in the Revit package, and using THEIR investment to charge FULL price to a client you're offering PART TIME service to would be unlawfully using the Revit package the OWNER rightfully owns, right? I mean, let me know if I'm wrong here. Furthermore, since this is not your full time operation, you probably haven't forked over the expense for the Revit package you're using to create the families. You'll have to get to their needs after the needs of your employer are met first. A company that operates under contract to build content for a client can dedicate full time to the client's needs. Since you're doing this as a part-time gig, the client would (should, rather) expect part-time cost. I would be interested in both pricing strategies though. It makes a huge difference. Also what difference does it make if it is side work or full time gig? I would like to price it as if it was a full time gig so that one day I might be able to make it that way among other services.
